Our Berlin leather features rich color, a firm texture, and a beautiful, smooth finish that is easily scratched or scuffed with mild pressure and contact from blunt objects. These marks are just as easily removed because Berlin is a vegetable-tanned and aniline-dyed leather, made from full-grain Northern European cowhides. Aniline dyeing is the most natural method of adding color to leather, and one that results in a leather surface that looks almost transparent, with the hide’s original markings completely visible underneath. As a result, only the finest rawhides can typically be used, and any markings you see are hallmarks of the natural leather. The oils in Berlin will come out over time and allow the leather to burnish and develop a beautiful patina. Berlin is produced by a 5th generation German tannery, that also has a Gold rating from the Leather Working Group (LWG). LWG certifies tanneries based on environmental factors such as energy use, waste production and water treatment.

Care: Spot clean with a dry, soft cloth. Please note that the leather may mark or scratch easily. Also our Leather Cleaner and Conditioner cannot be used on Berlin leather. Instead, you can easily buff any surface level scuffs and scratches out with your fingers. The oil naturally occurring in your skin will help minimize these marks.
